Loft conversion Plans

Hip to gable, rear dormer window, sky light conversions ?

The first thing to decide when considering a loft conversion is what sort of loft conversion do you want? What will you use the extra space for? It could be simple storage, or a bathroom or shower cubicle. Alternatively you may want a studio for painting, photography etc., a dark room, an office, play room or extra bedroom(s) with or without en suite. There are many possibilities.

The majority of lofts can be converted and can often provide you with the most attractive and largest living area in your home, it also may add to the value of your property.

A loft conversion must be built to specifications that meet planning constraints, building regulations and structural requirements.

Some loft conversions can be started straight away using your Permitted Development Rights, however most will require approval from your local authority. This will typically take a minimum of 8 weeks so beware of those who try to tell you otherwise. This can depend on the Local Authority where you live.

We also include structural and SAP calculations with our building regulation applications.

Info: Will Building Regulations Approval be needed?

Yes The Building Regulations ensure that developments are built within a set of pre-defined standards to ensure safe building practices and good workmanship. The standards cover such things as the structure, fire safety, drainage, energy conservation and disabled access within buildings
